Follow the Ten Bread Crumbs, Little Hansel (And Other Beautiful Things)

Honestly, I thought I'd post before today. Instead, I've been watching movies. Loads and loads of them. I know...it's self indulgent. And total escapism. Last night I watched This Means War (a pre-release showing), which was freaking awesome, btw. Hilarious and sexy...right up my escapist alley (is that a word? Escapist, not alley.) Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, and what's her face. What's not to love?

No need to thank me.

Anyway, I'm back to work (tomorrow). Finished up a few things, so I'm diving back into an oldish manuscript with a little spitandpolishspitandpolish. I realize I don't talk about my own work much so

***************

HEYYYYYYY. Those of you who were led here from Myra McEntire's blog...HELLOOOOOOOO. And welcome. Those of you who stopped by all on your own because you love me or accidentally found me by googling "Jared Leto's girlfriend" or "monkey lips" or "cool chick Carol" (I swear, this is a real one, too), so glad to have you pop in.

Cop a squat, friends. I've got something shiny to show you.

Okay, not really. But I'll give you a clue to find the shiny.

What you're looking for? The cover of Gretchen McNeil's latest creepycool YA novel TEN. It hasn't quite released yet, or I'd be all over that like fleas on a hown dog. But that's not all. On the day of the cover reveal, Gretchen is also going to give away a signed and annotated copy of the unbound galley of  TEN. And Gretchen has invited me to participate in a little game of Follow-the-Breadcrumbs-Little-Hansel to help you win it.

But first, let me tell you a little about TEN:

And their doom comes swiftly.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives – three days on Henry Island at an exclusive house party. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their own reasons for wanting to be there, both of which involve Kamiak High’s most eligible bachelor, T.J. Fletcher. But what starts out as a fun-filled weekend turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly, people are dying and the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

Sounds keep-you-up-at-night fabulous, yeah? I'm chomping at the bit to see the cover. If you're new to the game, you can go to Gretchen's blog to start the hunt and follow the clues (including mine) until you get to the end where you'll get to see the cover and quite possibly win that glorious signed and annotated copy of an unbound galley of TEN (which comes out before the ARCs, people. One of a kind prize).

Here's my crumb (read: your clue): T.J.

For your next clue, you'll need to hit up Shelli Johannes-Wells' blog on FRIDAY, February 17.

A little about the author: Gretchen McNeil is an opera singer, writer and clown.  Her YA horror/paranormal POSSESS debuted with Balzer + Bray for HarperCollins in 2011.  Her second novel, TEN – YA horror/suspense about ten teens trapped on a remote island with a serial killer – will be released September 18, 2012. Gretchen is a former coloratura soprano, the voice of Mary on G4's Code Monkeys and she currently sings with the LA-based circus troupe Cirque Berzerk.  Gretchen is also a founding member of the vlog group YARebels where she can be seen as "Monday."

Happy hunting!

  2. Hi sexy lips Carolina!! I did see a clip of the film on Graham Norton's show cos Reese Witherspoon was a guest - it went something like - she was talking to her friend, and the Boyz were listening and she says something like "well the other one loses points for being British" or something and Tom Hardy goes "what's that suppose to mean?" It was quite funny!

But to choose between Tom Hardy and Chris Pine!?!? My oh my!

    Take care

TEN sounds awesome! I have not read enough YA lately. I should change that.

And where is this you talking about your work? I would love to hear about your own work. *winks, grins and nudges*

  12. First of all...Tom Hardy has the lips of an angel and a sinner and I kinda love him. I mean, he's not quite Jared, but he'll do. ;)

    And, YAY for Gretchen. :)

And, you are indeed a cool chick, for many many reasons, one of which is that you support fellow authors like a champ. :)

    Huggles,
    L

  15. Ummmmm I didn't even see Reese Witherspoon's face until I read Shelby's comment.

    Ha!

Seriously. Who can see her next to Chris Pine's abs?

My eyes can only take in so much deliciousness at a time. My corneas have their priorities, don't you know.

Anyway, no one makes me want to read a book more than you do.

    For reals.
